This is a brand new instalment in Chris' series of improvisational quilting classes! In this class you will embark on your quilting journey by cutting large shapes out of your fabrics and composing them into a fibre art masterpiece. Think in terms of large, bold coloured shapes working together in a complimentary and contrasting composition.
You will progress through this very satisfying course in a fluid manner. You will complete a quilt top in the first three weeks. In the fourth week, you will begin the process of creating the final design elements through quilting your quilt sandwich top.
This is a very satisfying class with immediate satisfaction resulting in a dynamic composition!
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner
Skill Requirements:
- Prior quilting experience.
- Must be aged 16+
What You Provide:
Quilting Cottons as follows:
- 2 meters of SOLID black
- 1 full meter each of 5 (or more) different SOLID colors varying in saturation (bright, medium and dark tones)
Notions and tools:
- Plenty of threaded bobbins & spools of thread
- Your own sewing machine (recommended)
- Your own rotary cutter, with plenty of blades (recommended)
What We Provide:
- Rotary cutters (if you do not have one)
- Cutting mats
- Irons & ironing boards
- Spray starch
Equipment requirements: We highly encourage you to bring your own sewing machine, however if you don't own a machine, one will be provided for you. If you’d like to bring your home machine, please remember to bring the manual (and foot pedal/power cord) and arrive 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time to set up. If you don't own a rotary cutter, you can borrow use one of ours.
