Stitch by Stitch is a Summer Camp for sewing beginners aged 11-16. This fun camp gets your pre-teen/teen started learning the basics of how to use a sewing machine. Campers get to choose fun projects to build their skills on. At the end of the week, participants make a simple garment (pyjama pants or a skirt).

Skill requirements: Stitch by Stitch is geared towards total beginners. No previous experience necessary!

What we provide:
- fabric for the first three days
- sewing machines (if you don't have one)
- all tools, thread, and notions

What you provide:
- sewing machine (if you have one)
- 1.5 - 2.5m of soft quilting cotton (e.g. from Ruby Star Society) for the final garment project. Students are welcome to bring fabric from home or purchase it in the store. We offer a 20% student discount on all supplies or tools purchased during this camp.

Topics & Activities:

Day 1

  • Introduction to using a sewing machine, including threading and making bobbins
  • Cutting tutorial, including how to cut safely using scissors and a rotary cutter
  • Learning about fabrics and fabric manipulation
  • Design your own cushion cover or tote bag, choose fabric, and start the project

Day 2:
