
Have you always wanted to learn how to sew?
Our Home Sewing Boot Camp will help get you going! This is a chance to get to know your sewing machine and practice new skills on 3 simple but useful projects that you can use around the home.

In this workshop you will learn:
- Basic sewing vocabulary
- Helpful tools you’ll need to sew at home
- Sewing machine parts and functions
- How to wind a bobbin and thread the machine
- How to sew in a straight line and pivot around corners
- How to sew in reverse
- Sewing a straight seam
- Marking fabric
- Basic quilting
- Hemming
- Applying bias binding
Week 1 - Introduction to Cutting + Sewing - Envelope Cushion Cover or Pillow Slip
Week 2 - Kitchen Apron
Week 3 - Quilted Place Mat or Soup Bowl Cozy
Week 4 - Time for finishing projects and review or skills
You will need to purchase the following (or bring from your stash at home!):
Envelope Cushion Cover - 2 fat quarters or 1/2 meter of cotton or cotton/linen canvas + coordinating thread
Pillow Slip - 1 meter of 100% cotton + coordinating thread
Kitchen Apron - 1 -1.5 meters of quilting cotton or canvas (depending on style/size) + coordinating thread
Quilted Place Mat or Soup Bowl Cozy - 1/2 meter of quilting cotton (you can sometimes use scraps from your previous projects to make this!), bias tape (optional - we can also make bias tape from leftover fabrics) + coordinating thread
*we'll provide the batting as we only need a wee bit!

Equipment requirements: Please note that we provide a sewing machine for you to use in the studio, but we encourage you to bring your machine from home. Please remember to bring the manual (and foot pedal/power cord).
