Learn to sew a custom designed apron at The Makehouse Co-op! This workshop is a great way to increase your confidence while practising your sewing skills! Sew an apron for yourself or make a gift for someone you love!
In this 2 week class, you’ll begin by planning your design and cutting out your fabrics. We have a few different styles to choose from. We will then show you how to construct your apron using the sewing machine and pressing techniques.
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner
Skill requirements:
Home Sewing Boot Camp, Learn to Sew: Quilting OR several of our Learn to Sew: Cushion Cover, Sew a Tote Bag, Lunch Bag OR basic sewing experience such as knowing how to thread and use a sewing machine, wind a bobbin, construct simple seams, and be familiar with sewing terminology such as "right sides of fabric together" and "seam allowance."
Must be aged 16+
In this workshop you will learn:
- How to sew curves
- How to create neat corners
- How to sew bias binding
- How to top-stitch
What we provide:
- Sewing machine if needed, and other tools.
- We will have different style of apron patterns on hand to choose from (You are more then welcome to bring your own pattern as well)
What you provide:
- 1-1.5 meters of woven cotton or canvas fabric
- Thread
- Other co-ordinating fabric or notions (d-rings, bias tape etc) to create your apron.
We offer a 20% student discount on all your supplies for this workshop! You will be sent a code to use online once you've registered for your class!
Equipment requirements: We highly encourage you to bring your own sewing machine, however if you don't own a machine, one will be provided for you. If you’d like to bring your home machine, please remember to bring the manual (and foot pedal/power cord) and arrive 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time.
Group size: Maximum 6 guests to keep our classes cozy and fun!
