The Makehouse is a fun place to learn, be it a workshop, party or camp! But don’t take our word for it… Here’s what the people say!

“My 10 year old and her friend just started going to the youth workshop at the Makehouse. I can’t say enough good things about it!!! I am not a sewer and my daughter had never sewn before. She came home from her first workshop with a tote she made all by herself. They are teaching her to use a sewing machine! I am beyond thrilled! I think I may even do a few classes!” – NS

“After several attempts at attending the Learn to Sew Cushions workshop, I finally made it today! And what a fantastic afternoon it turned out to be, more enjoyable, satisfying, and fun than I had hoped for. Jenny was a great help in finding the right workshop for me (a complete beginner) and my yearning to make my own machine sewn cushion cover. Having not been near a machine since high school, I was so scared! But Jenny went at the pace each student needs, and was right on hand to help and demonstrate. I loved the Makehouse space, very chilled and cosy, just right for a foggy Saturday afternoon! If you have been debating attending a workshop at The Makehouse, don’t! I am all fired up and can’t wait to go along during Drop-In to make more cushion covers. I am even contemplating bigger projects, thanks to the confidence Jenny gave me today. Well done Makehouse, 5 stars!” – ST

“Working with patterns, stretchy fabrics, and elastics are three things I tend to avoid but Jenny really took all the fear out of it. From cutting the fabric to the voodoo origami move needed to connect the gusset with a hidden seam, Jenny provided clear guidance. The pattern used is simple enough for beginners like me and easy to adapt for those with more experience.” – CD

Just want to say how much the swimsuit workshop I took sparked my sewing bug! I made a second suit right away without a serger and it turned out even better than the first. I also made a beautiful coat with fur trim and wear it almost everyday. I took apart a simple dress that had a tear, drew out a pattern from the pieces and re-made it again with new fabric. Seriously, thank you for that!! I think my next project will be a bomber jacket with a lining…that is going to be a challenge for sure though I think. – AW

I made this quilt for a neighbor after attending a workshop. The workshop gave me some confidence while using my machine and I have started to tackle some projects I once thought to be impossible. Like making a quilt!! Cat
