Do you have sweaters sitting in your wardrobe that you adore but no longer wear. We spend so much money on clothing in our culture and so much goes unworn and is eventually given or thrown away.
During this workshop we will look at each of your garments and talk through the options to determine what might be possible before you get cutting and sewing! There will be a mixture of hand-sewing and machine sewing depending on each project.
In this workshop you will learn:
- How to think outside the box!
- Ideas for upcycling & re-purposing clothing
- How to prepare fabrics for re-styling
- When to cut and when to un-pick stitching
- Techniques for measuring and cutting
- Techniques for sewing and finishing
- When to use a machine and when to hand sew
Skill requirements: Basic hand and sewing machine experience required.
Material requirements: You will need to bring pieces from your own wardrobe to work on. Bring a few options, you might not get through them all – but it’s better to have more options than less to work with. Cost includes buttons, trimmings & small bits fabric and lace from the studio.
Equipment requirements: Please note that we provide a sewing machine for you to use in the studio, but you are more than welcome to bring your machine from home. If you’d like to bring your home machine, please remember to bring the manual (and foot pedal/power cord) and arrive 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time.
Group size: We like to keep our workshops cozy and fun, so attendance is limited to 7 guests.
