Work at your own pace and on your own projects in our Victoria sewing studio. Make use of our Janome 3160 QDC sewing machines, sergers, coverstitch, large cutting tables and irons to complete your projects. Perfect for those without proper space or equipment at home, people who are traveling and those who are looking to work in an inspiring space with lots of natural light. You might also enjoy socializing with other sewing, textile & fashion enthusiasts.
Sew by the hour is available whenever there is not a class scheduled to use the sewing machines. We recommend contacting us prior to the time you’d like to sew, to confirm that the space and equipment you require is available.
You must have experience using a sewing machine to sew by the hour. We are always happy to offer advice, but if you need coaching or a lesson, please check our class schedule! Sergers coverstitch and industrial machines are only available for experienced users. Please refer to our workshop schedule if you would like to learn how to use these machines or book a 1-1 session with one of our instructors.
You are welcome to use our tools, but you will need to bring along or purchase thread for the sewing machines. Sergers are usually set up with either black, white or grey but do feel free to bring along any specific colour you are working with.
Our sewing studio features 6 Janome 3120QCD machines which feature 60 stitches including 6 one-step buttonholes. One of the most amazing features of this sewing machine is the pedal free sewing option making sewing more accessible for children and people with disabilities.
We have a large collection of sewing books and patterns which you can use during your time at The Makehouse.
